Ohio lawmakers start hearings on drug testing for public assistance bill

Legislative hearings began this morning in the House on a bill to require certain applicants for welfare and unemployment benefits to pass a drug test before receiving aid. House Bill 298 by Republican Reps. Tim Schaffer, of Lancaster, and Ron Maag, of Lebanon, aims to combat drug-induced poverty and unemployment.
