Official’s name shows up as agent for company granted state contract

Investigators are attempting to unravel a whodunit involving a state contract supervisor and a New York City firm that received a $400,000-plus contract from the state. The Dispatch learned in August that Carolyn Chavanne was listed in a filing with the secretary of state’s office as the registered agent for UMT Consulting Group, while at the same time she played a role in approving UMT’s contract with the state Department of Administrative Services.
