New Franklin County sheriff to focus on communities, end crime patterns early

All Dallas Baldwin wanted was a chance to lead a small police department to showcase his leadership skills after 28 years as a Columbus police officer. Much of his career was in the patrol unit where, as a lieutenant, he supervised 80 officers and nine sergeants. Instead of that small-town chief’s job, though, circumstances, politics and grudges resulted in Baldwin becoming Franklin County sheriff, head of one of the largest law-enforcement operations in Ohio.
