New drop-in center ready for Columbus’ young homeless

There are no rats, no icky bathroom, no more hours-long waits to come inside. The city’s only drop-in center for homeless young people finally has a building whose promise is on par with the mission. Supporters showed off the new Star House on Tuesday during a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony that brought more than a few of the 200 audience members — and speakers — to tears.
