Nelsonville prison escapee reported captured

Authorities say John Modie, 58, was discovered to be absent from the Hocking Unit of the Southeastern Correctional Complex during the inmate count at 11 p.m. Sunday. By late Monday night, neighborhood residents apparently could breathe a bit easier. The State Department of Rehabilitation and Correction had confirmed that Modie had been captured after being on the run for about 24 hours.
