More crashes, fewer tickets as Ohio’s speed limits rose
Drivers on Ohio interstates can get where they need to go faster than ever before, but fewer are seeing flashing lights in their rearview mirrors when they’re traveling in high-speed zones. The State Highway Patrol is writing fewer tickets on stretches of highway where the speed limit increased from 65 mph to 70 mph in July 2013, a Dispatch analysis of millions of tickets found. At the same time, crashes have increased in those areas.
