Forget the criticism of the past. The Midwest stacks up with any area of the country since the end of the recession, according to a new report. The region is gaining strength because of low jobless rates and its manufacturing strength, George Mokrzan, a Huntington Bancshares economist, said in a study that measures the Midwest against the rest of the country.
