Merger rumors, CEO exit raise questions on WP Glimcher’s future

WP Glimcher fought off rumors last week that the Columbus-based mall owner was in talks to merge with another company, but this week, interest in the company's future has only intensified. WP Glimcher announced late Monday that Michael Glimcher, son of founder Herb Glimcher, had abruptly stepped down as CEO, vice chairman and director of the company. Shares in the company rose 5 percent yesterday in heavier-than-normal trading after the disclosure of the departure.
