Man gets nine years in prison for rape that was live-streamed

A 29-year-old man was sentenced to nine years in prison Wednesday for raping a 17-year-old girl at his Northeast Side apartment while the crime was live-streamed on Periscope. Raymond B. Gates pleaded guilty to one count of rape for the assault, which occurred Feb. 27 in the 4500 block of Christina Lane. The sentence, imposed by Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Kim Brown, was recommended by prosecuting and defense attorneys as part of a plea agreement in which several other charges were dismis
