Justice Insider: Judge suggests his own replacement

If it were up to Scott VanDerKarr, who retired on Friday as a Franklin County Municipal Court judge, his replacement would be someone familiar to those who have frequented his courtroom. In his letter of resignation, VanDerKarr asked Gov. John Kasich to appoint defense attorney Jodi Thomas to the vacancy.
