Jury acquits man held for 16 months on aggravated murder charge
Thomas Burns remained conscious long enough to tell a Columbus police officer that he had been robbed and shot in his Far West Side apartment by a man named “Kenny.” Prosecutors were unable to convince a Franklin County jury that the real killer was Robert D. Turner. The jury this afternoon acquitted Turner of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated robbery in Burns’ death. Turner, 48, who has been in the county jail for nearly 16 months, was to be released today.
