There was a time, decades ago, when the sight and sound of Canada geese were a cause of much excitement. The word would spread that the geese were back and it meant that all was right with the world. In those days, Canada geese were only seen in the state in the spring and in the fall during their migrations to and from their breeding grounds far to the north on James Bay in Canada.
