Intentional hit-and-run death brings 25-year sentence

Emory "Tommy" Clay was unable to make sense of why he drove a PT Cruiser onto a Hilltop sidewalk, purposely striking and killing a man he didn't know on Christmas night last year. "I just want to apologize," the 19-year-old gang member said Friday in a Franklin County courtroom. "I do have remorse, but that's not going to bring him back.... I can't give an explanation for what happened or why it happened." Common Pleas Judge David C. Young sentenced him to 25 years in prison.
