Immigrant-founded Modlich Monument still family-owned 80 years later

A German immigrant arrived in Columbus in the 1920s with little more than a knack for cutting stone. Linus Modlich went on to start a business making headstones. He taught the trade to his sons, who did the same for their sons, and Modlich Monument Co. has become a central Ohio leader in its field, operating from a main office on the West Side.
