Hilltop man killed in early morning shooting

There was a gun battle in the middle of Ogden Avenue early this morning and it left one man dead, Columbus Police say. William Earl Howard, 26, was shot and made it to the doorway of the home he shares with his fiance -- in the 700 block of Ogden Avenue on the Hilltop -- and he died there about 4:30 a.m., said Sgt. David Sicilian, supervisor of the first-shift homicide unit.
