Get ready for new treats, friendly animals at the Ohio State Fair

From gator on a stick to bacon-wrapped shrimp and beef kabobs, a feast of newly featured culinary creations will await visitors as the Ohio State Fair returns Wednesday for its 163rd year. The fair's admission gates at the Ohio Expo Center will swing open at 9 a.m., kicking off the 12-day event that ends Aug. 7. Admission is $10 for those 13 to 59 years old and $8 for those 5 to 12 or 60 or older. Children younger than 5 get in free.
