Gas leak prompts evacuations around Newark Public Square

The Licking County Courthouse, the county administration building and parts of the square in downtown Newark have been evacuated because of a natural gas leak. A gas line was struck on S. Park Place this morning as construction crews were working on ongoing updates to the town square, said Newark Assistant Fire Chief John Clouse.
