Franklin County Dog Shelter closes after distemper diagnosed

The Franklin County dog shelter has closed to the public today after a dog there was diagnosed with distemper. The shelter has tested three dogs, but only one case so far has been confirmed. The highly contagious airborne virus affects dogs’ respiratory tracts, spinal cords and brains, according to a press release. It does not affect humans.
