Former Ohio State gymnast dies after being hit by tractor trailer

A former OSU gymnast has died after he was struck by a tractor trailer last week in North Columbus.Columbus Police say that Larry Mayer lost control of his vehicle early last Thursday morning at I-71 and I-270 in north Columbus, driving off the roadway and down an embankment.Police believe that Mayer exited his car and began walking along the freeway. He was struck by a tractor trailer around 3:00 a.m.Mayer was a two-time Academic All Big Ten Athlete and three-time Ohio State Scholar Athlete.May
