Federal funding ends for CHIP; what happens now?
COLUMBUS -- Federal funding has ended for a program that provides insurance for children in need. It leaves a big question, who will pick up the tab when the money runs out?Congress is working on a fix for the Children's Health Insurance Program, or CHIP. But, there's no certainty it will go through. CHIP provides insurance for children of working families who don’t qualify for Medicaid.CHIP is a federal program. Here in Ohio, about 95 percent is funded federally, the state pays the rest.
