Ex-worker at Ohio online school tells legislators of attendance problems

Eleven weeks into the 2014-15 school year, Brianne Kramer said 487 students at the Ohio Virtual Academy had not yet logged attendance hours, yet only 89 were in the truancy reporting system. Kramer, who worked at the school for a year as a high school adviser, told an Ohio Senate committee last week that as of November 2014, 1,826 students enrolled in the state’s second-largest online charter school were missing at least 25 hours of attendance.
