Egg industry shifting toward cage-free operations

A race is underway among food companies to buy eggs from chickens that don’t live in cages. McDonald’s pledged in September to buy only cage-free eggs by 2025, setting off a run of restaurant and packaged-food companies announcing similar plans. Just last month, central Ohio heavyweights Wendy’s, Bob Evans and White Castle joined the growing list.
