Division cancels charity campaign after firefighter struck by car

The Columbus Division of Fire suspended its annual Fill the Boot campaign this weekend, after a firefighter was hit by a car, breaking his leg, while collecting for the charity Friday morning in Clintonville. The firefighter, whose name the Fire Division wouldn't release, was wearing a reflective vest and other safety equipment when he was struck in the street at the intersection of North High Street and East North Broadway, said Rebecca Diehm, spokeswoman for the Division of Fire.
