CPD officer facing discipline after rifle stolen

A Columbus police officer is facing discipline after an M-16 rifle was stolen from his unmarked cruiser.Police bosses say the officer received a written reprimand for leaving the weapon exposed behind the driver’s seat, even though the officer said he attempted to hide the rifle with items in the cruiser.The incident happened two weeks ago when the Community Response Team officer went into a restaurant on west Broad Street.Surveillance cameras show the suspect’s gold Chevy S-10 pull
