The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled against a state subsidy for new power plants in Maryland, a case that Ohio leaders are watching for implications on profit guarantees recently approved for American Electric Power and FirstEnergy. In an 8-0 ruling, the high court upheld a lower court that found Maryland had overstepped its authority with a policy that provides financial incentives to build power plants.
