Consumer spending sags in Chase report

The monthly Local Consumer Commerce Index released today by JPMorgan Chase found that consumer spending growth in 15 major U.S. cities dipped by 1.9 percent in August, with Columbus spending down slightly less than average. Denver fared best, with 4.9 percent spending growth, while Houston saw the biggest decrease, with a 6.1 percent decline year over year.
