Columbus ward initiative would trigger August special election

An initiative petition that would ask voters to dramatically change the Columbus City Council could require a special citywide election on Aug. 2 and would cost the city about $1 million. Represent Columbus, a group of community activists and area Republicans, is proposing to change the council from seven at-large members to 13-members, with three members elected at-large and 10 from wards.
