Columbus schools return to class, union negotiates contract

As about 50,000 Columbus City Schools students flooded into more than 100 buildings Wednesday to kick off the school year in the state's largest school district, teachers came to the buildings under instructions from their union to "work to the rule," meaning they should do nothing extra. The teachers' contract expired this week.
