Columbus firefighter passes away shortly after retiring

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A Columbus firefighter has passed away and his co-workers believe the cause is from cancer he got on the job.The Columbus Division of Fire confirms Ed Gibbons passed away just two days after retiring.Facebook posts by the Columbus Firefighters Union Local 67 claim he died of occupational cancer.The Columbus Division of Fire said that claim is opinion and there is no official statement yet from the fire department.
