Columbus council to target problem hotels, motels

The Columbus City Council is expected to impose new regulations on problem hotels and motels that are a scourge of neighborhoods and foster criminal activity. The new law will require hotels and motels in Columbus to get annual permits that could be seized by the city if inspectors find code violations and patterns of criminal activity. Council is expected to approve the legislation at its meeting today at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
