City, schools announce plans to keep kids safe, busy over spring break

Hoping to keep 50,000 grade-school students from harm this spring break, Columbus city and school officials announced plans Wednesday to keep them busy and safe during the 10-day stretch from March 25 through April 4. While stressing that students are safe while in school, Superintendent Dan Good acknowledged that violence and other problems facing students at home and in their neighborhoods have "very real and very direct effects on what happens in our classrooms and hallways."
