Capitol Insider: Cruz campaign defends mailing fundraising ‘checks’

Our piece last week on Ted Cruz soliciting campaign money from Ohioans by sending letters emblazoned “check enclosed” drew a widespread response. The Cruz campaign essentially said it’s OK because others are doing it, ranging from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi — although the examples provided don’t quite match what Cruz is doing, labeled “shady” by Ohio’s GOP chairman.
