Boy, 11, dies after struck by car on way to North Side middle school

An 11-year-old boy died after being struck by a car on Karl Road near Woodward Park Middle School. Columbus police were called to the school, which is located at 5151 Karl Rd., at 6:47 a.m. on a report that a child had been hit by a vehicle, said Sgt. Duane Mabry. The 6th-grade student, who was being transported to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m., a police dispatcher said.
