Bite from Lone Star tick could make you allergic to red meat

Experts say a bug that's been found in central Ohio, including Franklin County, can cause allergies to red meat and can be severe.
Dr. Glen Needham, an emeritus associate professor with The Ohio State University, says the Lone Star tick is being more commonly turned into area health departments.
He says if someone is bitten by the tick, it can cause flu-like symptoms, a rash, and in some cases a red meat allergy.
Needham says the allergy can range from a runny nose to a life-threatening reaction
