Athens under boil advisory as crews work to repair water main break

The Athens Water Department is continuing to work on a major waterline break.The water main break happened Thursday morning in the 300 block of W. State Street. A city engineer said a 16-inch line burst around 5 a.m.The city estimates it will take 24 hours to repair the line.Once repaired, the city says they will need to repressure the line, which could take up to 27 hours.Athens continues to have outages in the center and western portions of the city.
