Are DUI checks fair?

Of the nearly 400 motorists who encountered two sobriety checkpoints in Columbus early on Oct. 31, only one made the national news. When Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett was cited for operating a motor vehicle while impaired and illegal backing near a campus-area checkpoint, he brought renewed attention to the use of sobriety checkpoints, a longstanding but still controversial tactic employed by law enforcement in efforts to curb drunken driving.
