AIDS resource center changes name, expands focus
Put the word AIDS on your front door, and people might not come inside. That's one of the reasons why the AIDS Resource Center Ohio, founded in 1984 to combat HIV, is changing its name. "There's still a real stigma," said Bill Hardy, president and CEO of the nonprofit organization. "AIDS on the front door has kept people out of our services." So they're calling it Equitas Health instead, officials announced today, reflecting not just a name change but an expansion in their mission as well.
