AEP profit, sales jump in second quarter

American Electric Power has posted an increase in profit and sales for the second quarter, despite a decrease in sales to industrial businesses. The Columbus-based utility is reporting quarterly profit of $502.1 million, up from $430 million, and sales of $3.9 billion, up from $3.8 billion.
