$3 million bequest gives sick, unloved pets a sanctuary

MECHANICSBURG, Ohio — Joyce Evans pulled her hooded sweatshirt tight to block the biting wind, and she and Anabel set out for a long walk on one of the many trails that wind through this rolling, 72-acre wooded patch of secluded Champaign County countryside. Anabel can't go very fast these days, what with all the cancerous tumors that fill her chest, but that doesn't mean the 15-year old shepherd mix doesn't clearly delight in spending her days ambling about in the sun.
