EVERGREEN, Colo. (CBS4) – Hundreds of homes were evacuated Monday afternoon as the Elephant Butte Fire grew near Evergreen. Some families tell CBS4’s Alan Gionet they left so fast.

One teenager was emotional saying he believes his family home caught fire.Right now we’re at 700 homes evacuated in the #ElephantButte fire in #Evergreen. I talked with a 17 year old who was in tears believing his family home has gone up.
