FirstEnergy likes DOE support for coal and nuclear, vows to continue efforts for state assist

The Department of Energy's recommendation that old coal and nuclear power plants that cannot compete well against gas turbines and wind farms must be subsidized to keepthe nation's electric grid stable is music to FirstEnergy but just politics to environmental groups. Yet the wind industry says it "welcomes" the opportunity to show how important wind farms have become.
