FERC delays coal, nuclear decision, Davis-Besse, Perry have uncertain futures

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Monday threw out a case brought by the Trump administration aimed at funneling more customer money to operators of coal and nuclear plants unable to compete with gas turbine plants and wind farms. Trump's Department of Energy agreed with FirstEnergy and other utilities that the big plants provided "resiliency" to the nation's high-voltage grid.The FERC is now asking independent grid operators whether it should make any changes at all.
