WNY doctor helps give firefighter groundbreaking face transplant

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Western New York native Dr. Derek Reformat was involved in a groundbreaking surgery where a firefighter was given a face transplant.
Dr. Reformat was involved during the 16th hour of surgery and beyond, including the patient’s post-operative care.
41-year-old Mississippi firefighter Patrick Hardison was severely burned in a fire in 2001, according to CBS.
