VIDEO: Old 219 Bridge implosion

SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — The 219 bridge over Cattaraugus Creek was imploded by engineers Thursday morning.
Around 35 pounds of explosives were used to send about 1,200 tons of steel crashing down into the creek, to make way for a new bridge going up in its place.
The old 219 bridge had been crumbling for years, and had become a safety issue, but state leaders say it took about ten years worth of talk and negotiations to get any movement on plans to replace it.
