Type 1 diabetes requires constant attention, support

AKRON, N.Y. (WIVB) — Lunchtime at the Goulettes typically includes what most would expect for young children: some crackers, maybe a little peanut butter, juice and apple sauce.
But for the past year and a half, all of 3-year-old Maggie’s meals have also come with a side of shots. Maggie has Type 1 diabetes, and that means a finger prick to test her sugar levels before she eats, and a subsequent shot.
