Troopers rescue distressed beaver near Lackawanna fire site

LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police say they rescued a disoriented beaver in the aftermath of the Lackawanna fire.
Two Troopers were working near the site of the former Bethlehem Steel plant on Saturday when they saw a large animal walking near Route 5 in the area of Smoke Creek.
It turned out to be an approximately 50 lb. beaver.
The animal, which was in an unusual spot, appeared disoriented and distressed. This may have been due to living near the fire, State Police say.
