Suspect in custody after suspicious package found at naval base in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police are responding to a call for a suspicious package at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.
Virginia Beach police dispatchers say the call came in for a suspicious package Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, one person was taken into custody after they allegedly dropped a package off at Gate 5. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was called to check the package.
An alert from the base says Gate 5 is closed and on security alert.
