State DOT planning Southtowns bridge implosion this week

SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – An old bridge that’s been a safety concern for years is set to come down this week. The old Route 219 bridge over Cattaraugus Creek was closed last month, and a detour was designed to ease the confusion for drivers who use the old span.
This was the first holiday weekend since the old Cascade Road bridge, connecting Erie and Cattaraugus counties closed, and reactions have been mixed in Springville and the Town of Concord.
