Murder rate in NYC drops to lowest level in decades

NEW YORK – New York City’s crime rate has fallen to levels not seen since the 1950s. The NYPD says there have been 286 murders this year — down from a peak of more than 2,200 in 1990.
At the Poseidon Greek Bakery, owner Lili Fable and her son Paul say they’ve seen the drop in violence firsthand.
“Definitely there is much less crime,” said Paul Fable. “There’s much less trouble on the streets.”
