Mercy Flight celebrates 24,000 missions

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- Dozens of Mercy Flight of Western New York pilots and medical staff gathered at the non-profit’s headquarters in Buffalo Friday, to celebrate a special milestone: 24,000 patient missions.
Mercy Flight of Western York first took off in 1981, and has been flying ever since.
There are five operating Mercy Flight of Western New York helicopters that fly out of Buffalo, Batavia and Olean.
The newest helicopter was built in 2010 and cost $7 million.
